We enjoyed a ride on the Llangollen Railway last Monday. The train was composed of a GWR Prairie tank and six Mk I coaches. At least i think it was six a there's a curve in the platform where I was counting.
This was the first time we had travelled on the new extension from Carrog to Corwen. On arrival at Corwen I was surprised to see there was no loop for the loco to run round.
Asking the ticket inspector he told me that they push the train back to Carrog with a second driver with a radio and vacuum brake in what is then the leading coach.
You can see the back 'cab' here on arrival back at Llangollen before the loco uncoupled.
Looks like a nice simple conversion, although I suspect that your preserved line may opt for a solid yellow panel rather than the chevrons

Could you not apply 'Modellers licence' and use half of a DMU? I'd have thought that would be ideal in real life as well, offering better visibility (for driver and passengers) and the brakin equipment required.
But then I'm not an engineer... _________________ Andy in Germany

No modellers licence required. DTS 54289 was used for just that purpose when it was at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway.
Cheers
