I have recent got hold of some issues of MTI, I have 16 issues.
Then thoght I would put them into pdf, so I started.
I looked at the classified adds and the number of back issues were getting less and less.
I emailed Jack Trollope with this idea, he said put the idea on the forum to see if anybody out there would lend me their early issues ?

So I may transfer them into pdf and then onto dvd / cd, would the editor let me do this ?

The whole collection would be available in pdf on disc.

Would the editor please make a comment on this idea please ?

You also, I hope, realise that there will be copyright issues affecting the sale/giving away of any of the PDFs - You will need to contact Chris, but since the availability of these will affect sales of back issues I suspect he will not be in favour. A "quick and dirty" guide to UK copyrightlaw can be found here http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p01_uk_copyright_law
and the laws in other countries are fairly similar
You may get more a favourable response to PDF versions of issues that are sold out, but there again, what percentage of the sale will go to him. You also have to look at the cost of discs, postage/ storage etc. and the price point for them as each disc will contain multiple issues. The idea has been suggested several times before and has always been non-approved

My idea was to pot MTI into pdf then onto disc
not just for myself but to help sales of back issues that are not available sold out.

The issues I bought and this is for my benefit no body elses.

Yes it would be upto Chris to yes or no, but I am willing to do the hard work as I have nothing better to do.

But wouldn't the the monies goto MTI and not me ?

I for one like the idea of being able to purchase a cd with issues on it that are sold out and not available through regular channels. I know that when I first found out about MTI and subscribed some of the ealy issues were sold out and not available to back order. It seems to me that Chris would not be out of pocket if Garfield restricted his sales to only those issues that are not available to back-order.
Just my 2 pence worth.
Cheers
Gene

Good idea.
I'd love to see a back catalogue on DVD/CD.. ok maybe 'love' was a bit too enthusiastic!

Go for it Chris!

I'm afraid it never got anywhere on this thread a while back, either:-

I'm not sure if partly it's because Chris Ellis isn't on-line so there isn't much/any 'official' backing for this sort of idea...?

I have spoken to Chris about this several times, and I'm sorry to say that he isn't in favour.

Thats too bad....although I prefer the original copies..I wouldn't mind being able to access, online, those out-of-print copies I'm missing from my collection, for a small fee even.

I seriously need my eyes testing, I clicked on this thread wondering why the magazine would be printed on MDF! It'd be a bit of a bind getting it to fit through the letterbox and Chris would be really weighed down on his way to the post office every other month!
