Don't you love Americn place names? I suppose Brett sounds a bit more
realistic to modellers on this side of the pond but, whether you're in Boring
Oregon or Brilliant Ohio, you can get away with just about anything.
Nice presentation of the layout. Better than being exiled to a cold garage. _________________ Bob Hughes

Well I like both Martin, the layout and its name.

Nice vid Martin (but I'm still not sold on sound).
I'd have picked up the outbound boxcar from the team track during the first run round move and used it as a handle
to propel the inbound car to the loading dock. Then kept it coupled to the loco while pulling the hopper from the silo
and running round it. That way only the hopper would be left standing on the loop during the second run round move
and the grade crossing need not have been blocked. _________________ Bob Hughes

cheers chaps.
Bob - I have to admit that i hadn't spent too much time thinking about the moves, was focussing on balancing the camera and controller! (I don't do multitasking).. but yep.. fair point.
The sound on the loco is actually not that dominant, honest. I do find on many exhibition layouts it's deafening. The layout background track i feel adds some flavour (again, it's fairly subtle).. but doesn't come across too well in this video. _________________ Martin Hogg

It's always interesting to see how others would carry out switching/shunting moves; I wonder if there would be similar variation between real Crews switching a yard - one crew switches Industry 'A' first whilst another crew prefers to switch Industry 'B' first instead..?
Even on Lance Mindheim's Blog once when he described a set of switching moves, a real-life Railroad worker got in touch to show how it could be done 'better', as in 'more efficiently".... _________________ What is this thing called "Spare Time"...?? |

Neat switch-stand; where did you get it from? Non-working, I presume? |

I am glad you have decided to finish the layout Martin.
It is really excellent, got a nice feel about it I think.
