hen I first read that , I was thinking about coupling/uncoupling as a problem because the hand from the sky, then I thought to be realistic you need a figure at the side who uncouples and couples up the wagons. Kadee type couplings do not look right on British steam locos, and look worse in fact. Possibly the least obtrusive of the propriety ones are the old style continental hook and look, especially as the loops are smaller and thinner material. Locos just need a short lightweight hook.
The strand of grass system that Roger Nicholls first introduces works well. It does mean wagons can not be turned around, and reducing the amount of hold power by only having one coupling might cause problems. I am sure if coupling was redesigned it could be even better.
As I said to replicate coupling and uncoupling properly you need a miniature figure that can move, which is obviously not possible.
Everything is a compromise(and I am not going to even talk about OO track gauge), and therefore what ever we do will not be correct, however many rivets exist. _________________ Simon Dawson
Will try anything once, looking for the ultimate easy to set up portable exhibition layout, preferably French narrow gauge and with lots going on, not necessary on the rails.
