OT a bit - Just wondering why the slider switch has been mounted vertically & not flat with the wire set into a hole drilled in the plastic...

It's not a method I'll use on a layout.

Basically, I didn't want to start hacking at the shelf to mount the switch and after considering constructing a small frame/box for it, felt that it worked better this way as there was no height difference to negotiate.. the small piece of pcb attached to the switch via a pin actually pivots and takes a bit more throw out of it. (The switch has a far greater throw than the point and the omega would have been a bit stretched).
